New amiibos Coming Soon
Expanding current series and a new comer.
Among many things, Nintendo announced today on its Nintendo Direct the upcoming release of new amiibo figures for 3DS and Nintendo Switch titles. The amiibos revealed are as follows:
The first new amiibo annouced was the amiibo Pikmin featuring all five Pikmin on the amiibo figurine. This Pikmin amiibo will be compatible with the upcoming Pikmin title Hey! Pikmin for the Nintendo 3DS. The Pikmin amiibo will be released on July 28.
The Legend of Zelda
The next set of amiibos announced were additions to The Legend of Zelda series. The new amiibos are Child Link from Majora's Mask, Link from Twilight Princess, and Link from Skyward Sword. What makes more interesting this new set of amiibos, is that while Twilight Princess already has amiibos support, Majora's Mask for the 3DS doesn't have amiibo support as we speak, so there is the possibility that amiibo support might be added to the game. What's more interesting about this is that Skyward Sword, since it is only a Virtual Console title on Wii U, it does not have any amiibo support whatsoever. Thus giving to speculation a possible HD release of the title, or at least some Skyward Sword related items being given out in Breath of the Wild for using this amiibo. Either way, it will be intriguing to see what kind of amiibo goodies will the Link Skyward Sword amiibo will give. The Legend of Zelda amiibos will be released on June 23.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U
The next set of amiibos announced were additions to the already robust Super Smash Bros. amiibo series for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The new amiibos announced are Bayonetta from Bayonetta game series, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII, and Corrin from the Fire Emblem series. All three amiibos will be released with two variant poses for a total of six amiibos. All six amiibos will be compatible with Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, with Corrin being also compatible with the upcoming title Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valencia for the Nintendo 3DS. All six amiibo figures will be released on July 21 with some of them being available only at selected retailers.
The last set of amiibos announced were three new amiibos for Splatoon 2. These new set of amiibos will feature Inkling Boy, Inking Girl, and Inkling Squid; just like the amiibos released for the original Splatoon. However, unlike the amiibos released for Splatoon for the Wii U, the Splatton 2 amiibos will feature variant poses from its predecessors (the second set of Splatoon amiibos on Wii U was only a color variant from the first set). It is unclear if the Splatoon for Wii U will be forward compatible with the Splatoon 2 amiibos, unlike Splatoon 2 which will be backward compatible with the Splatoon amiibos for Wii U. The Splatoon 2 amiibos will work as a memory card which will allow you to transfer your favorite game loadout and upload it and use it on a friend's console. Also, unlike the first Splatoon amiibo series, the Splatoon 2 amiibos will be able to hang around the hub area (Inktopolis Plaza) and take selfies with the player's Inking Boy or Inkling Girl. The Splatoon 2 amiibo series will be released on July 21.
I don't know about you but, for me, so many amiibos, so little money!
